SEO Scams: Site Build It scam trick
How often have you searched for a product such as Site Build It and included the term ’scam’ in your search, looking for user reports claiming the product is fraudulent. Seems an easy way to ‘check up’ on the sales pitch, doesn’t it? But what’s this — there are thousands and thousands of ‘hits’ in the search engine! And as many as you check out, you find someone trying to SELL you the product, instead of making a case against it. What’s up with that?
Simple, Site Build It, and many other products you see this ’scam’ trick used on, has affiliates who get paid for referring customers. Now there is nothing wrong with that — heck I’m one! The SiteSell affiliate program is a great way to earn money. But some of these affiliates write pages that lure you with misleading titles: ‘SBI is a Scam‘ or ‘Don’t Buy SBI‘ then turn around and try to sell you on the idea of buying the product. This is no reflection on the product itself, but on the affiliates who are promoting it.
I started the title of this page with ‘SEO Scams’ because that is what this technique is (SEO stands for search engine optimization). The affiliates know ‘Site Build It scam’ is a frequently searched term, so they use it get traffic to their page. Then they try to sell you SBI, because they know you are interested in it — you wouldn’t be searching for scam reports on it if you weren’t interested. The problem is, if there are any real scam claims (and I haven’t been able to find any, but with as many customers as SBI has, I’m sure there must be a few) the real claims get so buried in the affiliate promotion pages that you can never find them.
Well, just take it as given that there are a few unhappy customers — you can’t have tens of thousands of customers and not have a few complain. The vast majority of SBI customers are more than satisfied — a great many are repeat customers. They are making profits from their SBI websites, so why wouldn’t they want to duplicate that? Those who have SBI sites that are not profitable, (and no doubt there are many of those too) probably didn’t follow the guidelines, which have a proven track record, but preferred to ‘go their own course’ — thinking maybe their way was better. I do that kind of thing all the time — it’s a great learning experience (though not the quickest road to profits).
What it really comes down to, is Can you succeed at building a profitable business using Site Build It?
